Tippler Subject Category:

I thought the same thing when we put this message on the front of the CNTU
newsletter (photo attached). Actually the motto came from you when you
created the old CNTU website. I liked it so much that I kept it and used it
to this day. Later on it got changed to "Dedicated to the Flying Tipplers"
to make the distinction from the show type like you said. However some
members started picking even at that...saying it wasn't clear enough to
serve their own agenda. Case and point....some time after the Pakistani
High flyers became popular and they were calling the birds Tipplers. As you
know that didn't sit well with us here in Canada and we made a few changes
as mentioned above to make sure members clearly understood. Tippler is an
English word given to a specific breed and not a generic term for long and
high flying pigeons...let us be clear on this for those that like to believe
otherwise or play stupid. The reason other fanciers of certain breeds use
the term Tippler is because it is a well recognized name and therefore adds
instant creditability and recognition to the breed of choice. This in the
retail industry is called BRANDING....millions of dollars are spent in
branding a name and thus vigorously protected by copyrights. WHY? Because
others can promote the product on the backs of well known names such as
NIKE....which by the way happens all the time on the black market. So I am
with Nino all the way on this, and by the way I don't think Nino is upset at
all but trying to educate the ignorant. I can tell you this.... the CNTU,
and it seems we are alone on this (so be it) will not under any
circumstances allow the breed to be diluted in this manner, in our club
anyway.

And as long as we are on this forum we will state our case whenever an
absurd comment is made as to what constitutes a Tippler as in the message
below. I guess some of us feel the need to protect the integrity of the
breed and others clearly couldn't give a rats ass. You may call it being
upset....we call it passion.
