In May 1935 during the night, the loft of Mr. John William Matthews was
broken into. Seven Tipplers of Macclesfield strain all of grey mottle or

tears.
In October of that year, a man called to see John and told him that he had
seen some Macs flying in the Wincobank district of Sheffield, identified by
the unique Mac style of flying. On investigation, those Tipplers were
identical to the family of Macs stolen from John W. Matthews. Being
confronted by J.W. Matthews, who was 6 ft 4' and weighing 226 pounds and 2
supporters, the culprit finally had to confess.
The police were never called by the culprit was severely bashed and bruised.
All of the stock was confiscated and removed no matter what they were. J.W.
Matthews has only one thing to say - "I will be keeping an eye on you!"
