Hi Bernhold,
I have ruined many young birds with feeding barley alone at early stage by
following so called "tippler-professors". Now I just feed them the the best
feed I can afford (usually AA breeder mix) for the first 2 weeks after
separating from parents as much as they want. And from 3rd week on they are
controlled with half breeder mix and half barley and kept on hungry side
about 14-15 grams. It seems to work for me with robust youngsters and
minimum losses...
