Neen Id like to ask for your thaughts on which is the more challenging. the
breeding of Fancy pigeons or performance pigeons? Personally the breeding
for performance is the most challenging in my opinion! Most fancy pigeon
breeders if not all breed based on phenotype wheter by Inbreeding. Line
breeding or outcrossing. What the bird looks like in its phenotype is
usually the desiding factor in how and what the breeder of fancy pigeons
determines his matings! Breeding for performance however is more difficult!
How does, or can one recognise the speed, homing ability in a racing
homer, or the ability for long flying endurance in a Tippler using its
Phenotype? Some such as Bill Pensom claimied to be able to pick out the best
rollers in a breeders loft off the pearch! Bull if you ask me! Without
testing a bird in the air for its ability a family? line can quickly lose
the ability to perform. Breeding within a proven family of performers and
culling wisely would be my choice to maintane and yes even improve such
birds!

Take care
Raul
