Hyperactivity

In my time I have owned pigeons that would explode into flight at the least
disturbance. They were of course superbly fit. On the other hand I have
owned pigeons that were remarkable sluggish and I would reckon that even a
burst of machine gun fire over their heads would do not more than cause them
to flutter for about 10 seconds. Two extremes but I prefer the hyperactive
extremes.

It takes a lot of expertise and dedication to control such pigeons but I
would rather have this problem than be messing about than with something
that has no ambitions or interests in flying, other than to escape a bullet
or a swipe from a bamboo cane!

In parallel, it is rather like the difference between gentling, calming and
saddling and extremely savage and dangerous wild Mustang and winning the
heart of a useless puppy dog. Me? Well, I would prefer the challenge, a
battle against odds, rather than what the American's call a Push over.
