Mick - Firstly are you 100% sure the bird is egg bound? you could try giving
it a calcium tablet and a cod liver tablet. Also if you can feel the egg,
sometimes steaming the birds rump end works, but you need to make sure your
not holding the bird over a boiling kettle kind of steam, i.e. the kind of
steam that won't burn your hand.

Old stock hens tend to accumulate internal fat when they are not flown out
or have access to big flights, i usually feed stock hens on barley only
prior to pairing them up, along with some good old Epsom salts to purge them
a couple of times..

Anybody have any surefire methods of unbinding an egg bound hen, she's an
old hen and has been a very good breeder, this is the first time she's had
this problem, any help asap would be very much appreciated.
