The Racing Pigeon Digest is America's leading periodical on the sport of racing pigeons. Founded in 1992 by editor and publisher Gene Yoes, a three time recipient of the AU President's Cup, the Digest has quickly overtaken existing magazines on the American market by providing in depth articles on a variety of subjects on all aspects of the sport. The Digest has in depth articles by and on champion flyers.
The Digest was begun in answer to the racing pigeon flying community's desire for a quality, information loaded racing pigeon magazine and a need for a forum in which pigeon flyers and fanciers could exchange ideas and opinions freely. In the past, most of what was available to American pigeon fanciers, and the flying community in particular, was a rewrite of old information copied from outdated reprints of 20, 30 and even 40 year old information or only contained only one man's opinion.
The Racing Pigeon Digest changed the way the hobby and sport was presented by taking a true journalistic approach to reporting on racing pigeons and those who fly those birds we all love so much. The Digest was the first magazine to have a true editorial policy and allow its readers open forum to print their own views without censorship or worry of retaliation -- a first in pigeon journalism. One of the most important features of the Digest is the balance it provides its readers on a variety of issues. The Digest receives more Letters to the Editor discussing various issues of the day than all of its American competitors combined. The Digest is much more than one man's opinion.
